Volkswagen Golf

Volkswagen Golf is by far the most famous and recognizable German car in the world. With a debut almost 38 years ago it still remains the best buy on the small hatchback market. What’s so special about this car and why is everybody so obsessed with it? Let’s try to figure that out and let’s start from the beginning.

When it first appeared on the US market in 1975, many buyers were confused by the name the Volkswagen management gave it. The Golf was renamed to Rabbit and stayed it until 10 years passed and then became the Golf everyone was familiar with.

Regardless of its name this car was and still is available in two or four door body style. It also has a 2.5 liter engine with five cylinders and 170 hp. A five-speed manual transmission comes as standard equipment with an option to change it to a six-speed automatic transmission. The tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel also comes as basic equipment.

Volkswagen Golf has a pretty phenomenal standard equipment for its compact size. This car has almost everything you may ever need to feel safe and comfortable: air-conditioning system, cruise control system, safety bags, amazing design, comfortable seats, and, most importantly, plenty of space in the salon. It may seem there’s not enough space for a family of four or even five members but that’s not true.

Fuel economy was always a priority for Volkswagen engineers after the safety. The Golf model is the best example of that. A high performance version of Golf line is the TDI model. It has everything you wish in a car and much more. Golf TDI has the highest level of equipment, the strongest engine and most importantly, the best fuel economy you can get from a car. Apart from its incredible equipment, Golf has a luxury design that simply can’t be matched.

The sixth generation of Golf appeared in 2010. The redesigned Golf is available in Europe as well as in the US and that’s great because safe, powerful and gorgeous hatchbacks are needed everywhere. And this one perfectly suits for business or family rides.
